Preview funding & usage

Reserved Klara Preview capacity is prepaid. Billing enables a cash top-up only when the signed capacity, cash-source, and profitability checks pass.

Preview funding and memberships are different

A membership can carry seat, rate-limit, and Research Mode review terms for an existing customer. New membership checkout is paused during Preview. Its monthly allowance is not eligible funding for a reserved Preview GPU request.

Prepaid Preview funding comes from a completed top-up whose paid cash principal is independently verified. Existing balance, plan allowance, and promotional bonus credit do not make an undersized new checkout eligible. Billing reads the signed live funding minimum and recommends the smallest qualifying cash top-up.

Per-request cost

The token-metered amount is computed from the tokens a request consumes. Each model publishes input and output prices per million tokens and may also publish a request minimum that covers dedicated model startup and execution.

request cost = max(token-metered amount, published request minimum)

Reserved Preview usage draws from eligible purchased credits, never plan allowance. Published prices are on the models page; your full per-request history is in Usage.

Worked example

This route has not passed release qualification yet, so its measured request minimum is not published. The worked example appears automatically when the live route and its startup floor are available; a temporary $0 placeholder is never presented as a launch price.

Published route pricing

Klara Base Preview v1 and v2 are the public standard routes. A workspace can use either without Research Mode only when it has enough eligible purchased credits and the release is qualified, admitted, and healthy. The live rate and route status always appear on the models page before a request can be admitted.

Plans are paused during Preview

New Explorer, Research Pro, and Lab checkout is paused. Existing memberships can retain their published account benefits, but their allowance cannot authorize reserved Preview GPU capacity. A top-up funds standard Preview use; it does not grant Research Mode.

Signed-readiness top-ups

Open Billing to read the live checkout contract. Checkout remains closed unless the capacity, exact cash source, and profitability controls are ready. When it opens, Billing recommends the smallest pack whose paid cash amount meets the live floor. A displayed bonus does not count toward that minimum. You can also set a low-balance threshold so you are alerted before purchased credits run out.

What happens when you run out

If eligible purchased credits cannot cover the estimated Preview request, the request is blocked before any provider call is made and nothing is billed. The API returns a 402 with error code: "insufficient_credits"; the chat surface shows a gate with a link to add credits.

To restore access, open Billing. If the signed readiness contract is open, choose its qualifying top-up; if it is closed, no card can be charged and no purchase is presented as usable Preview capacity.
